Using a Seestar Smart Telescope on Our Tenerife Stargazing Excursion

A night beneath the stars in Tenerife is already unforgettable—but a Seestar smart telescope allows you to see and photograph objects that are far beyond the reach of the naked eye.

During our stargazing excursion, guests have the opportunity to experience this remarkable technology under the clear, dark skies of Tenerife. The Seestar is a fully automated smart telescope that combines a telescope, astronomical camera and image-processing system in one compact instrument.

See deeper into the night sky

When you first look upward, you may see thousands of stars, the Milky Way and some of the brighter planets. The Seestar goes much deeper.

Once it has been aligned, the telescope automatically locates and tracks a chosen object. It then takes a series of short exposures and combines them into an increasingly detailed colour image.

Depending on the season and sky conditions, possible targets include:

  • The Orion Nebula
  • The Andromeda Galaxy
  • The Pleiades
  • The Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae
  • The North America Nebula
  • The Hercules Globular Cluster
  • The Moon and Sun
  • Bright comets when available

The image improves gradually as more light is collected. Guests can watch faint structures and colours appear on the screen in real time.

Follow the live image on your phone

Seestar’s Guest Mode allows up to eight devices to connect simultaneously: one host device controlling the telescope and as many as seven guest phones or tablets.

By scanning a QR code, guests can follow the live view on their own devices without creating a Seestar account. Everyone connected can watch the image develop while our guide explains what the telescope is photographing, how far away the object is and what is happening within it.

Only the host controls the telescope, so guests cannot accidentally interrupt the exposure or move it away from the selected target.

Take an astronomical memory home

Instead of simply seeing an object for a few seconds through an eyepiece, the Seestar creates a digital image that can be saved and shared.

This gives you a lasting memory of the evening and an introduction to real astrophotography. The final result depends on the target, exposure time, atmospheric conditions and the darkness of the observing location, so every session is slightly different.

Traditional observing and modern technology

The Seestar does not replace looking through a conventional telescope. It complements the experience.

Traditional telescopes provide the excitement of seeing the Moon, planets and bright deep-sky objects directly. The Seestar’s sensitive camera reveals fainter nebulae, galaxies and star clusters, including colours and details that our eyes cannot easily detect.

Combining both approaches gives guests a much broader understanding of the night sky.

Ideal for beginners and experienced photographers

You do not need any previous knowledge of astronomy or photography. Our guides will explain each stage clearly and help you understand what is appearing on the screen.

For experienced photographers, it is also an opportunity to see how live stacking, tracking and digital processing can produce deep-sky images using a remarkably compact telescope.

Experience Tenerife’s night sky

Tenerife is one of the world’s outstanding destinations for astronomy. Its high altitude, clean atmosphere and limited light pollution create excellent conditions for observing and photographing the universe.
